Artists in Dialogue (AiD) began in July 2022 as a project between seven artists from Frome, Somerset, UK and seven Ukrainian artists; two in Ukraine and five displaced across Europe. A key aim being to develop supportive, personal connection by using the universal language of art.

Phase I: War Vocabulary September 2022 – July 2023; six themes emerged and artwork created. The Heliograffiti (left) was designed and produced in January 2023 with the involvement of all project artists. It combined the Celtic oak and Slavic trident symbols of strength, power and wisdom. Connection exhibitions have been held in Frome, Somerset (March 2023) and Rabka Zdrój, Poland (June 2023).

Artists in Dialogue Phase II: Vocabulary of Hope August 2023 on-going; new themes have been agreed on which artists can centre their work. These include Uniting Vocabulary, where artists plan to create a single artwork – together. Other themes comprise of individual artwork in response to shared, translated texts. An event showcasing the artwork, spoken word and music is intended for Spring 2024.
