ABOUT
Two of the artists continue to live in Ukraine, five in other European countries (Austria, Czechia, Germany) and Scandinavia (Norway). The U.K. artists all live in or near Frome, Somerset.
By September 2022 War Vocabulary was added to the project title at the request of the Ukrainian artists.
Themes for War Vocabulary artwork emerged from discussions: War, Peace, Conflict, My Ukraine, Enigma of War and Sketching Conversation. AiD artists upload artwork to online themed boards. This artwork was sometimes raw or graphic – always thought provoking, created to reflect deeply personal responses to the war.

Phase I War Vocabulary key events:
January 2023 All artists contributed to the design and creation of Heliograffiti (drawing with light), under the guidance of Ukrainian artist Volodymyr Bakhtov, a long-time exponent of this creative medium.
February 2023 Frome artists presented CONVERSATION РОЗМОВА a talk about AiD:WV and the upcoming exhibition in Frome.
March 2023 The first Artists in Dialogue: War Vocabulary exhibition CONNECTION ЄДНАННЯ was held at the Silk Mill, Frome.
June 2023 The second Artists in Dialogue: War Vocabulary exhibition was held in Rabka-Zdrój, Poland.
As the end of our first year and Phase I approached, the Ukrainian artists requested that the project move forward, replacing War Vocabulary with a new, more positive focus. Phase II will be Artists in Dialogue: Vocabulary of Hope.
